OMSB Activities and Responsibilities

In addition to the actual running of a the concession stand during athletic events, the following represents activities performed by OMSB volunteers. If you are interested in taking on one of these activities contact an officer.


Online activities: Notes
  1. Update the website calendar with sporting events and volunteers and schedules with scores
  2. Manage the sports boosters Facebook page
  3. Manage the sports boosters Yahoo email account
  4. Perform an annual review of the Website format and content

Check booster email on a daily basis. Update website with game changes, volunteers, and scores daily (if needed). Post special events on Facebook and Website.

Sports Banquet Notes
  1. Coordinate list of awards with coaches
  2. Order trophies
  3. Coordinate use of cafeteria and menu
  4. Prepare general and senior athlete tickets for sale at main school office
  5. Advertising
  6. Volunteers schedule for setup and cleanup
  7. Balloons, helium and decorations
  8. Coordinate with Athletic Director on Charles Martin Sportsmanship scholarship recipients.
APRIL: Email coaches on trophy names. Do building request. Set menu with cafeteria. MAY: Order the trophies in for delivery 2-3 weeks prior to ensure correctness of plates.

Tickets to main office, advertising, and scholarship information 2 weeks prior to banquet.

Volunteer recruiting and liaison Notes
  1. Schedule time to meet at sports parent kick off to recruit volunteers
  2. Attend open house events with table to recruit volunteers
  3. Advertising
At the beginning of each season attend coaches parent meeting.
HS and MS open houses.

Homecoming Weekend Notes
  1. Advertising
  2. Organize food preparation and volunteers for shopping
  3. Coordinate bonfire donut/cider night
  4. Work with Concession Management for supplies/etc.
  5. Flowers for Queen and court
  6. Pick up tiara from Wade's in Elmira (they donate the tiara)
Advertise 2 weeks prior to homecoming with events. Special foods prepared day before or day of. Purchase donuts day before, cider is usually donated, if not, purchase that too. Tiara from Wade's a few weeks before. Flowers (5 sm bouquet, 1 lg rose bouquet, boutonnieres for escorts) before the parade.
Concession Management Notes
  1. Maintain inventory, coordinate/do shopping
  2. Buy supplies as needed
  3. Investigate and suggest equipment upgrade/replacement/repair as needed
  4. Contractual arrangement with Pepsi
Based on game load shopping could be done weekly. With new concessions that may be knocked down to monthly. Equipment on a needed basis. Pepsi contract yearly.
Senior Flowers Notes
  1. Working with school staff to identify seniors for each sport
  2. Work with coaches and other OMSB staff to identify senior nights (last home game)
  3. Purchase flowers - boutonniere for day of senior night, bouquet for senior night
Senior nights are the last home game of the season unless otherwise noted. Boutonnieres and bouquets to the school by 7:30am for each senior.
Seasonal STAR Awards Notes
  1. Coordinate with Fall, Winter and Spring coaches for award recipients
  2. Pass information along to High School Secretary for ordering plaques
Email each coach at the end of the season for STAR recipient.
Fund Raising Frequency/Notes
  1. Coordinate fund raising events

Hall of Fame Frequency/Notes
  1. Coordinate with Athletic Director on years that Hall of Fame inductions take place
